Galata Tower is one of the structures that make up the silhouette of Istanbul, welcomes so many tourists that there are always long queues in front of it. Galata Tower is among the oldest towers in the world, was built in the 500s at the request of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian.
It gained its present appearance in the 1340s. The last repair of the tower, which was destroyed by fire and earthquakes, was made in 1967. You can enter the tower, which offers a wonderful view of Istanbul when you climb to the top, between 10:00-22:00 in summer and 10:00-19:00 in winter. Galata Tower entrance fee is 120 TL and museum card holders are free to enter.
You can see Istanbul from a panoramic angle from top of it that’s why it is a tourist attraction place and there may be a queue at the entrance. So you should go there before your planned time. You can also get an audio guide without entering the tower for a fee. After using the elevator until the entrance of the 6th floor, you can go up two more floors and reach the viewing terrace. You can visit the newly renovated floors of the Galata Tower, buy souvenirs for your loved ones, and visit the simulation room.
